Jamie & I took the day Saturday just for ourselves, something we don't get to do nearly enough because of our crazy work schedules. We took off for Historic Banning Mills in Whitesburg, Georgia to go ziplining, and it was a blast!
This was a first for both of us, and I was nervous climbing up to the first zipline. I hadn't heard the instructions very well, and I was afraid I'd do something wrong. But Jamie made sure I was right up front with our guides so I could ask questions & hear the answers.
Right up front also meant I was the first person to go on each line. That was an interesting conversation with our guide, Ethan, at the first line. "You mean I'm just gonna step off this platform? Just step off?" "Un-huh. Or you can just sit down, and you'll take off," was his reply. So I did. And it was awesome!
By the third or fourth line, it was old hat. At least until line 7, when we were told we had to take a running jump off the platform or we'd hit it with our butt.
Here we had to leap off the platform and immediately turn & smile for the camera. Jamie made it look easy.
We crossed lots of bridges, some with boards to step on but also some cable bridges without steps. I actually kind of liked the bridges.
Our guides, Ethan and Matt, were great about taking photos of everyone along the way, which was great because I didn't even have my phone with me. It was back at the house, and I was totally unplugged for the day.
We did Levels 1, 2, and 3. This was just before the final line, which goes right over the Snake Creek.
We're already planning a return trip, so we can do the Screaming Eagle and the Flight of the Falcon. I can't wait!
Exciting!! Looks like fun!
